Magic Numbers and Sox Musical Stylings…

So, as I mentioned in my e-newsletter (which, if you haven’t yet signed up for it…it’s completely FREE and can be signed up for here), I’m reserving this blog space for a listing of our players’ entrance/walk-up songs.  Without further ado…

Position Players:

Ellsbury “Cherub Rock”, Smashing Pumpkins

Coco – “Sexy Can I”, by Ray J, featuring Yung Berg, and “Lollipop” by Lil’ Wayne

Bay – “Alive”, Pearl Jam

Drew – no music by choice

Kotsay – “Low”, Flo Rida

Ortiz – just gave us a CD and said play track 18.  He also has “Get Buck in Here” by DJ Felli Fel

Varitek“Kryptonite”, 3 Doors Down

Bailey“Moby Dick”, Led Zeppelin

Pedroia – “**** wit Dre Day”, Dr. Dre

Youkilis – “Push It To The Limit”, Rick Ross

Lowell“Iron Man”, Black Sabbath

Lowrie – “The Kids Aren’t Alright”, The Offspring

Casey – “Even Flow”, Pearl Jam

Pitchers:

Byrd“I Am Free”, Newsboys

Aardsma – “Bodies”, Drowning Pool

Delcarmen – “I’m From Boston”, by a band that we don’t know.  He brought us a CD

Timlin“Black Betty”, Ram Jam

Okajima“The Oki-Doki”, by ?

Papelbon“Wild Thing”, The Troggs then “I’m Shipping Up To Boston”, Dropkick Murphys

Beckett – “Rockstar”, Nickelback

Wakefield“How Bad Do You Want It”, Tim McGraw

Lester – “I Use What I Got”, Jason Aldean

Matsuzaka – “Real World”, Exile

So, if you’ve been away from Fenway Park for a while, the take-away from the above, is that Delcarmen and Papelbon do not use “Blame it on the Rain” as their entrance song.

And last but not least…the Magic Number for us to clinch a playoff spot now stands at 5.  Any combination of our wins and the Twins losses that add up to 5 will mean that we have clinched at least the Wild Card.  And as our friends at the MA State Lottery always say…you’ve got to be in it to win it!

All the best from Inside the Front Office,

“The Voice of the Nation”

This is cool! Thanks for sharing! I might just have to an “uber-dork” and create a Red Sox playlist for my iPod…. πŸ˜‰ LOL

Pearl Jam (twice), Black Sabbath, The Offspring, Led Zeppelin, Nickelback and the Pumpkins!!! WOW – just goes to show that we have the coolest guys in our team…
Glad to see that the Dropkicks got a mention too!

That was very cool, thanks! I always try to figure out what the songs are, but some of them you either don’t hear loudly enough OR — they just aren’t recognizable.

And, I always wondered if they picked their own songs or if they are picked for them? I know you specified some like Papi brought their own CD – but does everyone do that?

I already have some of these on my IPOD for running, which is not by design, outside of the Dropkick Murphys. πŸ˜‰

I hate to sound like a broken record…but aren’t we due for an updated post Mr. Insider? And does anyone know what happened to Beckett last night? That 2nd inning was HORRIBLE!

I know, I know, I know…I was dying to write one last night and all day today, as I heard rumblings of the Johnny Pesky news, but I decided it would probably be better to keep my job than break the news!

Mr. Soxinsider, I could be wrong but the last time I was at Fenway, Jason Varitek’s song was “Me and My Gang” by Rascal Flatts this year. It was Kryptonite in years past, but not this year unless he has changed back. Please correct me if I am wrong!

karmardav – how very observant of you. He did, in fact have “Me and My Gang” earlier this year, but he has since switched back to “Kryptonite.”
