Yeah…..
I was at that game. Byrd struggled….and the Jays really were on. Its like Byrd didn’t have any motion on his fast ball…I had great seats, right on the first base line and pretty close, so I had a good perspective of the pitching. He’s kind of like DLowe in his style, but really no movement on the fast ball. Maybe it was opening jitters…
It was a fast game anyway! Which was ok because I was being eaten alive by mosquitos! LOL. I got bit more at Fenway than I’ve been bitten all summer!

I think the young pitchers on the Sox should take notes every time Byrd pitches. He’s always around the plate and although his fastball couldn’t break a plate glass window. he uses movement of off speed pitches to keep batters off balance. As has been proven over the years. if you throw 95 and they know it’s coming. they will smoke you, as evidenced by Papelbon’s blown save against the Jays on Wednesday.
